Trailer
Blue prince black sheep is about ageing, queerness, hybrid masculinity and the dogmas of classical ballet, but is also about a boy, a black sheep among swans, who dreams of a career as a prima ballerina.
Amancio Gonzalez has been dancing all over the world for more than thirty years, mainly under the direction of William Forsythe, an outstanding choreographer of the 20th century. In Blue prince black sheep, the Fiftyplus learns to dance on pointe. He asks colleagues for discarded pointe shoes – a whole mountain of them serves as his source of inspiration. Together with the choreographer Carlotta Sagna, he develops a dance monologue between dream, memory, pain, mortifications, rejoicing and triumph.
As an encore, Amancio Gonzalez interprets the legendary solo The Dying Swan (1905) choreographed by Michail Fokine for the ballet icon Anna Pavlova to the music of Camille Saint-Saëns.
